Reprise
There are so many reasons to watch foreign films. I personally love experiencing cinema from another country. Watching a movie in another language can be fascinating and also educational. They are so much more interesting than the same old blockbuster movies that's swamped television and cinema these days.
Most of the English movies seem to be repetitive and don't like moving out of the comfort zones. In terms of visual effects and soundtracks they are a cut above the competitors.
One of my all time favourite movies which I find myself watching many times is a Norwegian movie. It centers around Phillip (Anders Danielsen Lie) and Erik (Espen Klouman Høiner) who have been best friends since childhood. Both young men share a passion for the works of reclusive novelist Sten Egil Dahl, and both harbor literary ambitions. However, fate deals differently with the friends as each strives to make his dream come true. It was director Joachim Trier's smart, witty first film. It won a prize at Toronto and was also Norway's Oscar entry.
The film brings us in right away by showing a series of alternative possible outcomes to the young men's ambitions with quick editing and a witty voice over.
I highly recommend yous check it out.
