College Comic Assignment

As part of a recent assignment on my Multimedia & Web Development course at  Cavan Institute , I had to create a 2 page comic layout, using  Adobe Illustrator  & Adobe In Design . It involved lots of research, ideas, sketches and much more, to really bring my idea to life. My college tutor Donna taught us how to use the software that was needed. We done many different tutorials and tasks in class. As the weeks progressed I became more confident in my abilities. Once I had my concept finalized, it became easier to get the ball rolling as they say. As I'm not great at drawing/sketching, I was worried my work wouldn't be good enough. But I was assured that once I showed my work progression it would be fine. The weeks leading up to the submission date really flew by, and each day I done more and more on my comic.Storyboards were a great help, as they really helped to visualise what way my comic would flow, and look to the reader. One of the most important sta...

Video creations

I've been really into recording and editing various videos over the past year. Ever since I started my Multimedia & Web Development course, in  Cavan Institute , it has really kickstarted my love for video creation. Check out the course here:  Multimedia & Web Development . I completed my level 5 Quality & Qualifications Ireland(QQi) in May 2017, and I have started year 2 in September 2017.  Editing is typically the final process that happens before a video gets to you for final viewing. If you've made a video yourself, you'll know it can be quite time consuming at times. For the module Digital movie processing in Cavan Institute. we planned our assignments before we even started recording, or editing. It's a very important step that involves research(may it be sound effects, music, genre, style and so ,much more). Storyboards are a crucial element of any video project.  A storyboard is a sequence of drawings, typically wit...

Cuilcagh Mountain Park

Back in April of this year I visited the stunning  Cuilcagh Mountain Park, which is situated in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.   The weather changes very quickly, but thankfully the day we visited it was quite overcast, but the rain stayed off for our visit. But make sure to bring rain gear just in case.  The trail starts off with a stony path followed by a board walk and then steps in the final stretch the views along the way are amazing. It is extraordinary to walk up a staircase which is built scaling the side of a mountain.  One would need to be reasonably fit & not have any disability as the terrain is challenging enough & coming down needs care.  The first part of the walk was along 3.5 km of gravel path then to the boardwalk which took us about 45 minutes in all to reach the top.  It is a wonderful place to go for a w...

August Photography

Hi everyone, it's been awhile since my last blog post. I've been off this summer, before I return to college on Monday. I'm continuing my Multimedia & Web Development year 2 course, in Cavan Institute , here in Ireland. I've been so busy taking many photos throughout the summer months, with so much to show you all. The summer has really flew by, to quick really, but I'm glad to get back to my studies soon, and looking forward to new ideas and challenges.  I'm going to show you what I got up to this month. And then in another blog post coming soon, I will talk more about what I have been doing during the summer. At the start of August, myself and my fellow photographer friend Roisin Mc Phillips met up in Virginia, in County Cavan, here in Ireland. It's 15 minutes from my hometown in Bailieborough. It's full of beautiful forests, lakes, and so much more. The below photo, I took in Deerpark Forest in Virginia. I love this spot i...

Abandoned Places Photography

I love to explore many old and abandoned houses, and buildings, here in Ireland. To go into the dark of these abandoned places, hoping to uncover their secrets. Among the cobwebs and peeling paint that, I search for objects forgotten by time.  My aim is to show these places among the dust, and show it's beauty, a beauty to some, especially me.  By visiting these places, and photographing them, i hope to preserve the last breath of mystery and nostalgia that surrounds them. Many would think twice before stepping foot into these sometimes eerie, crumbling buildings, to me they have a subtle allure. I don't know why i have such a love with these places. I’ve been trying to visit as many abandoned places as possible. There is something enticing about abandoned places. You can feel the past in such places, they have a peculiar smell, a parti...

Photography Restoration

Photo Restoration   Even before I got into photography, I was always fascinated with the restoration of old worn and damaged photos. I remember when I joined Facebook at first. I joined a few small groups of photography groups. When I saw some of the detailed work that went into a restoration, it really pushed me to say to myself  "This is what I want to do"  I love all styles of photography, from landscapes, night time photography and even photographing old abandoned buildings. There's just something therapeutic I find about restoring pictures. I could sit for hours, and be in a world of my own. The hours really do fly by when your having fun they say. I started trying out some old photos lying around at home, and also some free stock images I found online.  Yes it can be time consuming sometimes. My eyes might be sore from a computer screen, back is aching from slouching over a computer. But it's worth every second in my eyes. These ...
